Paralegal A.A.S.

The Paralegal A.A.S. combines general education and specialized law courses to prepare students for legal careers or transfer to a bachelor’s program. The program is nationally recognized by the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE) and includes a chapter of Lambda Epsilon Chi, the Paralegal Honor Society.

Program Information

The Paralegal A.A.S. provides students interested in the paralegal profession or pre-law with specialized legal training to enable them to: understand ethical obligations and professionalism; gather and analyze facts relevant to legal disputes; perform legal research; draft legal documents; prepare witnesses and evidence for presentation at legal proceedings. The paralegal may not practice law and so must work under the direction of an attorney who is licensed to practice.

  • Conduct client interviews and prepare witnesses and evidence for presentation at legal proceedings.
  • Perform legal research and utilize techniques of legal writing in the preparation of legal documents.
  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with the ethical obligations of the legal profession to avoid ethical violations.

Success starts with a solid plan. Your program's course sequence is designed to build your skills step-by-step. By following this plan, you ensure you're meeting all program requirements and staying on track.
